The Agency - a spy MMORPG

SOE Seattle announced in The Agency, something as unique as a spy-themed MMORPG. We got a bunch of the Agency screenshots and artwork in the gallery.

Shacknews has impressions and a preview of the game, which will be released for PC and PlayStation 3.

Easy going

The Agency will be very easy to get started with, Sony has labeled it a "pick-up-and-play" experience. The Agency you can participate in drug smuggling, assassinations, espionage, and counter-intelligence missions around the globe. Set in a modern-day world, the game will provide for group and solo play during story-driven missions.

the UNITE spy organization vs. ParaGON mercenary group

You can choose between two sides in The Agency: the UNITE spy organization and the ParaGON mercenary group. As you gain rank, you will be able to build your own agency, which will work similar to how a guild or clan work in other MMORPG games.

The combat system

The combat will be in real-time from a first person perspective. Player vs. Player will form the core gameplay. High-skill players will be able to gain more resources by fighting experienced opponents with superior aim and strategy.

The Agency Classes

The Agency won't have classes in it's traditional sense, but will let players augment skills by what they wear, allowing them to customize their skills by dressing up their character for each mission. Outfits to supports stealth, combat, support, or undercover assignments will be available.

What about Loot?

Players can collect Operatives, a kind of "living loot" NPCs to assist them during missions. The Operatives can gather intelligence, provide satellite scans and build sports cars for example.

PC vs PlayStation 3 Multiplayer

The team is working on enabling PlayStation 3 players to compete against PC players, whether or not it will make it into the game is still uncertain.
