unexplained disaster on Mars, the UAC returns to the abandoned
facilities to investigate a mysterious beacon buried deep in the ruins
of the ancient civilization.

Doom 3 Resurrection of evil story
The story of Resurrection of Evil picks up about a year after Doom 3.

You play as a new hero this time around and you are sent with your crew to Mars to investigate a strange signal coming from the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC) facility, which is now abandoned and desolate on the surface of Mars. The events of the hellish events a year ago are now all covered up.
The team investigates the ancient ruins found in UAC's excavations below the surface on mars, and when the they stumble upon a strange artifact, hell literally breaks loose. In the quiet and abandoned UAC chaos is spreads and the facility is flooded with demons and hellspawn. Three Hunters demons play a key role in the story, and behind it all is the demonized form of the evil Dr. Betruger from Doom 3, who wants the artifact at all costs.
