Special Moves
Some hidden moves are available later in the game for Lara. Her handstand, swan
dive, and acrobatics are present, but done differently.
Handstand
Hold the JUMP key for 2 sec. at a precipice and she'll execute after a short
while.
Swan Dive Press DODGE/DUCK/EVASION after JUMP. This no longer
results in a broken neck but it will cause damage
if done over a downward gentle slope.
Acrobatics Timing the pressing of JUMP or DODGE repeatedly once
Lara finishes her gymnastics makes her roll, somersault and do acrobatic moves. This allows Lara to dodge things, such as hellfire erupting from
the ground. Timing is necessary and you will get a feel for it
after a few short practicises. Note acrobatics can only be done while on the
ground and moving forward.
Safety Grapple Finally, there is an official "safety" move.
When Lara misses a jump and grabs precipices with one hand, press the ACTION
key to remain holding or she falls.
Fast Movement When moving on solid architectural elements or while
swimming, Lara can fast move using ACTION repeatedly. This makes the ACTION
key as important as the JUMP key, since you need both to move through some of
the more lethal traps late in the game.
Slide (Combat) Press DODGE while locked on to an enemy and running
at him to juggle him into the air. This may sometimes make enemies fall off
edges.
Kick (Combat)
Press ACTION while locked on to an enemy and kick to stun. This stops enemies
from firing, but is useless against bosses.
Get Over Here! (Combat) Press GRAPPLE while locked
on to an enemy to drag them over to Lara for a stun (no damage) blow.
Bullet-Time (Combat) Press JUMP twice while locked on to an enemy
and when near him. This slows time, and allows Lara to bullet-time. If you do
not know what bullet-time is, watch the first Matrix movie. You can rotate the camera to target different enemies during this time.
